WATER SERVICE LINE INSPECTIONS
URGENT REQUEST: IMPORTANT INFORMATION NEEDED
The Environmental Protection Agency’s Lead and Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR) require water systems to complete an inventory of the service lines in their system and report that information. This document is intended to be used by water systems as a simple reference guide to satisfy the MINIMUM requirements of the LCRR lead service line inventory. A good inventory will include additional information and be very useful for the water system.
The guidelines listed below will help the City of Sandstone in determining the information needed to identify the type and size of your service lines:
- Provide the City of Sandstone with a clear picture of the service line and the first valve prior to the meter (preferably the side of the valve). Be sure the picture also includes the floor, foundation, or ground in which the service makes its entry from the ground. This picture should clearly show the material that the pipe is made of. Also provide a picture of the water meter. (Pictures below are examples of what the City of Sandstone needs to comply with the regulation). If you can do so, please provide the size, and make of water line entering the home.
- If the service water line has paint, corrosion, etc., please scrape or remove such items for clear identification of the service line material prior to taking the picture.
- If material of the service line looks gray or dark gray, please use a magnet on the service line cleaned surface. If magnet sticks to service line, please show this in your picture.
- When submitting your pictures, please include your physical address for which the information above is provided. i.e. Water Line Pictures 201 Main St. in the subject line of the email to the address below.
- Please submit pictures to: alanat@sandstonemn.com or text to 320-279-9112
- If you are unable to take a picture of your water service and meter, please make an appointment with City Hall so that a City Employee can enter your home to assist you. The process will take less than 10 minutes to complete. Call 320-279-9112 or 320-279-9744 to make an appointment, if needed.
The City of Sandstone appreciates your cooperation in this matter! Thank you for your time!
