Economic Development

Sandstone is located 90 miles north of downtown Minnapolis/St. Paul on Interstate 35 and State Highways 23&123w along the wild and scenic Kettle River.

The City has a 160- acre industrial park with state highway and rail access. Property is being subdivided at this time.  Tax Increment financing and JOBZ are available to qualified businesses.  There are several retail sites that are ready to build.

Sandstone is surrounded by many outdoor recreational opportunities.  Besides the usual opportunities, we are host to the the Kettle River Paddle Fest in May celebrating the best whitewater kayaking in Minnesota.  We host Ice Fest in December in one of the few municipal ice climbing parks in the United States.  Midwest Country Music Theater packs the house each weekend with live country music performances as well as broadcasting their own cable TV show.  Quarry Days takes place in August as our local summer celebration of small town life. 

There is excellent health care provided by Essentia Health Systems and Gateway Family Health Clinic.
